INT. GABRIELE'S PORTFOLIO – NIGHT

The light flickers. Welcome, visitor.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Gabriele Novello, a Computer Science graduate student based in Turin, Italy. I am currently completing my Master's degree at the University of Turin, with a focus on Computer Graphics and Computer Vision, and I plan to graduate in November 2026.

I'm a graphics programmer. I became interested in CG at the beginning of 2023 and so, I started learning OpenGL by writing a small 3D engine from scratch. Later, through university courses in Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Systems, I deepened my understanding, though I remain mostly self-taught through small personal projects about topics that pique my interest. Right now, my main project is Felina, a C++ renderer built on modern Vulkan (1.3+). It serves as the framework for my master’s thesis, where I implement a DDGI-based global illumination method with hardware ray tracing.

Outside of graphics programming I enjoy filmmaking, making music, game development and learning languages, mostly Norwegian, though I also spent about three years learning Japanese on and off. I've also recently gotten into photography, both digital and film.
